Beanbags for Kids

Children’s bean bags are extremely versatile accessories for children’s rooms as occasional seating, a handy sleepover option or just as a fun and decorative accessory. There are a wide range of bean bag designs to choose from, with many aimed designed especially for kids, in a selection of cool and contemporary colours that children will love.

This child’s floor cushion from Vetbaudet isn’t a bean bag as such because it is inflatable but it serves the same purpose. The advantage with this option is that it can be deflated and stored away if need be. Available in green, pink or blue the material 100% polyester so is easy to wipe clean.

These Fat Boy bean bags from John Lewis are not exactly cheap but because kids like them so much it might be the only piece of furniture you ever need to buy. OK, that might be a slight exaggeration but you will wonder what they ever did without one? Available in 8 colours the poly/cotton cover has a PVC coating which makes the surface easy to wipe clean and is easily removed and machine washable too.

The Amelie bean bag from the Little Home Collection at John Lewis is more of a traditional shape which incorporates a handy carry handle at the top. The floral print is especially suitable for a girls room. The cover is 100% cotton and can be removed but bear in mind it is dry-clean only.

These brightly coloured cube style bean bags from Feather and Black are a smart idea. Choose from green, red, pink, blue or yellow – the cover is polyester and wipes clean very easily.

They’ll love the Big Hug teenager’s bean bag with London scene print by HugRug so much that all they’ll want to do is hug it. The strong polyester fabric is water resistant and easy to keep clean and the Big Hug comes in three colours – red, apple green and tangerine.

The Goldilocks beanbags from GLTC are fun and funky regular shaped bean bags with a carry handle at the top. Although I like the design of both it’s disappointing that the covers are dry clean only, especially as these are aimed at young kids?

I looked around for some alternative designs and found these crochet pouffes by Dutch designer Anne-Claire Petit - available from Little Baby Company. The covers are made from fairtrade cotton and young kids will love the spotty design.
